JAKARTA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia assigned 16 men and women players to vie in the upcoming biannial Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship (BAMTC) slated for March 19 to 24 in Hong Kong of China, a senior official at Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) said here on Wednesday.
Even though players assigned in the tournament are not the top level ones, they are targeted to seize semifinal berths in the tournament, PBSI Head of Sport Development Susy Susanti said.
"We still have the chances even we only rely on second class players. We are optimistic that they can demonstrate their best to cope with the target," Susy said.
By assigning second class players in BAMTC, PBSI expects them to collect more points in their international appearances, she said.
In the first BAMTC held in Vietnam in 2017, Indonesian team was stopped by Japan in the quarterfinals.
