Gao Tingting, an attendant of train No. 6856, checks ticket information for a passenger at Hohhot Railway Station in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Jan. 7, 2020. Train No. 6856, connecting Erenhot and Hohhot, runs a distance of 491 kilometers and stops at 28 stations during the 8-hour trip. The cheap ticket price is not the only reason why local people favor the train. Living on the vast prairie, local herdsmen and farmers may encounter a lot of problems in terms of shopping and medical service. To better serve people along the route, the train is equipped with various medical equipments in case passengers need to take blood pressure or temperature. Meanwhile, attendants volunteer to purchase merchandise such as medication or vegetables for local people. During the past nearly 30 years, this slow train has provided much convenience for local people. (Xinhua/Peng Yuan)
