TOKYO, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning, with investors taking their cues from Wall Street's solid advance late last week on robust housing starts data for December.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 60.03 points, or 0.25 percent, from Friday to 24,101.29.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 9.64 points, or 0.56 percent, at 1,745.08.
Marine transportation, construction and machinery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
